aniBOOM Award 2006 is an Online Animation Competition created to celebrate the launch of  http://www.aniboom.com. 

 

aniBOOM.com is the leading interactive, user generated animation content portal that will serve the international animation community – for professionals, amateurs and fans. (See aniBOOM coming soon .. FAQ)

The aniBOOM Award will be an annual festival, and just the first of many exciting events in the pipeline.

The goal of all portal events is to encourage the creation of original, creative and unique animation materials. The portal will act as a showcase providing world-wide exposure to talents in the field of animation.

 

The aniBOOM approach is to enable the internet audience to view and rate the submitted movies.
In fact, audience opinion actually controls which movies will receive top placement and promotion on the site – and these highest ranked productions will, as a result, enjoy the greatest exposure. The viewing audience decides what’s good and what’s not!
In the final stage of the competition, movies selected by the Panel of Judges will count for 30% of the results, whereas AUDIENCE selections will have the majority influence – a whopping 70% !! 

 

 

A 阶段  : From 6th  June till 15th August (Pre-Launch of aniBOOM.com ) –  is the initial
submission period during which the site is only open for submitting animated movies to the competition.

 

B 阶段  : 1st September  – GRAND LAUNCH of the full aniBOOM Portal.
 The Competition opens to the audience and VIEWING & RATING commences. Submissions will continue to be accepted until 1st October, but due to aniBOOM’s unique Rating System it is advantageous to submit as early as possible.

C 阶段 : 15th October  – FINAL JUDGING begins. The 25 Finalists (the 5 movies that receive
 the highest rating in each category) will be selected and screened. Both the audience and the Panel of Judges will cast their vote for the BEST in each category. 
 Although submissions to the competition will stop on 1st October, you can continue to upload movies to the Portal and even get paid ! (See Revenue Share – is this for real?)

 

 D阶段: 1st November  - ANNOUNCING THE WINNERS. The 5 Winners in each category will
be announced and will be awarded the Category prizes. The maker of the movie that  receives the highest ranking from all the 25 finalists will become the Grand Prize Winner! 

 

FUNNY – for all types of humor. (If it tickles the funny bone, place it here)
DRAMA – dramatic, serious, meaningful .. in fact any deep treatment of human emotion with
the exception of humorous  
MUSIC VIDEOS -  self explanatory, right? But must include some form of animation.
EXPERIMENTAL -  for experimental movies with new techniques and innovative story-telling. 
CRAPPY – for the more amateur, rough or newbie animations (only you can decide if your work belongs here, but remember this category wins a prize too !)

 

You may submit as many movies as you like to the competition, but each movie must be
entered into its own  relevant and most suitable category.
BUT - once you submit a movie to a specific category you will not be able to change it to
another category without approval from the site administrator. So take care to pick the category that best suits the content of your film.

aniBOOM’s  unique rating system is based on a combination of Audience Rating and the number of times each movie is viewed by our registered users.
We believe that this system better reflects the true popularity of a movie by taking into account not only how it was rated but how many times people chose to watch it.
This method significantly enhances your odds of winning.
The earlier you SUBMIT, the greater you increase the time people have to view your movie - hence more views.
Subtle suggestion: Help yourself to the winning line by promoting your movie as much as possible to increase the Number of Views.  You can email the link to your movie to all your mailing list, and submit it to forums and link dumps such as http://www.milkandcookies.com/ and many others.

 

After the 25 Finalists have been selected, the decision of the Panel of Judges will determine 30% of the overall voting, whereas the final average of Audience Rating & Viewing will count for 70% of the grand total.

 

Our prestigious Panel of Judges consists of specially selected renowned professionals from the “crème de la crème” of the Animation industry.

Most important – and simply put – the ground rules for the kind of movies you can enter into the competition are:
• Any movies containing animation or CG special effects
• Created by anyone at any level at any given time or place
• Run-time of up to 15 minutes (for longer movies please send a request to
  info@aniboom.com )
• Proviso:  that the content is not pornographic or too offensive
• You hold the rights to all materials used in the movie
